Before training in web and email design I worked predominantly in print based media, both for businesses and self driven freelance work. Having worked across multiple brands and styles I have adapted to brand guidelines and even influenced their creative direction.
Global Distribution - Large Scale Print
In my most recent role at Global Distribution, there have been a lot of changes put in place to adjust to the new remote working lifestyle. When I joined the business in February 2020, the main focus of my role was to create print based designs, as the company took part in a lot of face to face events and meetings which required back drops and documents to hand out. Since then the role has required a more digital approach to advertising.
One project which would have been fantastic to see, was the stand designs for The Photography Show at the NEC Birmingham in March 2020. Below are the mock ups of my stand designs, featuring key brands we were showcasing for the event. The backdrops were printed and installed in the venue, unfortunately due to the show being cancelled and then the subsequent lock down, I never saw the finished stand in person. The show has since been hosted online, and will likely be a virtual event for the foreseeable future.
Interflora
While at Interflora I worked across three brands. Interflora it self, and their portfolio brands, Flying Flowers and Flowers Direct. While there I worked with, and created mock up images for large companies such as Disney, Dream Works and liaised with partners such as Prima, Good Housekeeping and Help for Heroes.
Brand Guidelines
Below are the brand guidelines I created for the flower brand, Flowers Direct. Although most people at the business knew the look and feel, there were no solid rules for the team to follow. Creating this set of guidelines was one of my first tasks when joining the Interflora team.
Linkage Community Trust
Although I had held design posts previously, working for the Linkage Community Trust was a new experience for me. I was able to lead the direction of the design on the Sensory Library Project, and gave my advice on many design related projects from other teams in the business. The biggest achievement in the position personally was seeing the ‘big purple’ Sensory Bus for the first time. Although creating printed documents such as flyers and posters is important for any business, there was something really satisfying about knowing my design is literally driving around, being seen by hundreds of people. Below is a photograph of the bus, and related print documents from this time.
Freelance Illustration and Graphic Design
Print in terms of personal work has been varied. During my time working at craft fairs I had printed items to sell. Badges, post cards, poster prints, seasonal greetings cards, as well as bespoke items. Commission based work has also been a variety of print and digital work.
Education Business Partnership - EBP
EBP provide educational experiences for schools and learning facilities. Working with the team there I fulfilled both internal and external design requests. As well as completing print based work such as business cards, mugs name badges etc, I worked on printed material that would be handed out at large events, such as that featured below.
